Nancy McGuire - 1916 - 2005

Nancy McGuire crossed over to the world of guardian angels Easter Sunday, 2005. She had suffered a severe stroke the week before.

mom

Born in Vallejo California in 1916, she graduated from Galileo High School in San Francisco where she was active in sports and cheerleading. During WWII, she worked as a volunteer army nurse, and was later accepted into the women’s army air force pilot training program in Carson Valley Nevada. There, she met her husband Benny (also a pilot), and had one son, David. Together, with their own hands, they built their own house, while she worked as the personal secretary to the governor of Nevada. In 1969 they moved to the family home in Santa Barbara.

Always trying to be the best possible person she could be, she enrolled in UCSB and graduated in 1971 with a degree in Sociology. Later, she wrote several children’s and mystery novels while helping her husband with the newsletter for the SB County Retirement Association.

In 1994 Nancy and Benny played a key role in helping their son start and develop a world-wide alternative therapy program for people who stutter. She has joined her husband as the guardian angels of the people of this program, their son, granddaughters, and all those who knew them for the loyal, honest, loving, hard working, wise people they were.

Bless you, Mom, you were and are a good mother and good person ...

(A memorial will be held in Santa Barbara, and Eneskillen, Ireland where her ashes will join those of her husband near the ancestral McGuire Castle.)
