The strength of the McGuire Programme is rooted in its people: the Course Instructors, the Certified Coaches and the many inspirational graduates, everyone who has committed himself or herself to make it work day by day, month by month, year by year. All of these people have a stutter and have worked hard to become an eloquent speaker.
These are the people, all members of the Programme, who return regularly to instruct the intensive courses. These are the people, all recovering stammerers, who maintain the essential support structure that underpins the courses. These are the people, all highly-motivated volunteers, who have been trained to coach students and graduates of the Programme. These are the people, at every level of their recovery, who willingly come back to courses to help others and to maintain their own improvement.
Through their personal experience and their own disciplined example, using the techniques they have learned and the strategies they have put into practice, the McGuire graduates not only provide consistent back-up for new students, but help themselves by working continuously and positively on their own speech.

CoachesAll of the people listed here are Coaches on the McGuire Programme. As experienced graduates, they have undergone a Coach training course, passed an examination and scored well in a peer evaluation. Many take positions of leadership running support groups, organising courses, and arranging Open Days and information sessions. All Coaches provide support and guidance to other graduates, both face-to-face and via the telephone.
Course Instructors
McGuire Course Instructors have extensive coaching experience. They have attended an Instructor’s training course, passed a rigorous written examination, attained exemplary scores in a peer evaluation, and served an instructing internship. They are responsible for teaching and instructing on the programme’s intensive courses.
Staff Trainers
Our Staff Trainers are experienced Course Instructors and Coaches committed to the future development of the McGuire Programme and its people. They run training and assessment courses for new Course Instructors and Coaches.
All McGuire Regional Directors, Staff Trainers, Course Instructors and Coaches are trained on child protection issues and we adhere to a strict Child Protection Policy.
