In 2019, 323 people wanting to overcome their stutter joined our Programme. Of these, 232, or 72%, were verified by our Evaluation Auditors as being successful according to our criteria ( in our most accurate category where non-respondents were rated not-successful. Similar to last year’s stats, 97% of people who took advantage of the Programme's included LIFETIME support for at least 6 months were confirmed successful.

What was remarkable about 2019 is that most of the evaluation audits were done in 2020 when the Covid19 prevented our usual face to face courses, refresher days and support groups. Thanks to the internet and conferencing programmes such as Zoom, we were able to keep our success reasonably high by conducting courses and follow-up support virtually. And it worked so well that we will continue to run virtual courses, support groups, etc. after this pandemic crisis is over, although regions will hold one ‘physical’ course a year.

The McGuire Programme welcomed 323 new members in 2017 to learn how to overcome their stuttering and to speak more articulately and eloquently..

72% of all new McGuire Programme members were rated Successful in 2019.  Note that this figure rates all non-respondents as "unsuccessful," and is what the McGuire Programme treats as its true overall success rate.

97% of those new members who took advantage of the McGuire Programme's INCLUDED Lifetime Support Membership for at least 6 months were rated as successful.
83% of all new McGuire Programme members attributed an increased Quality of Life to the McGuire Programme and their improved speaking abilities. Unlike the McGuire Programme, many other programs do not include non-respondents in their success rate calculations. Using this method, 80% of new McGuire Programme members would have been rated successful in 2019.

Although we have several categories of success, audited evaluations where non-contactable members (NCs) are factored in as unsuccessful remains the most valid indicator of our true success rate. In 2019, that success rate was 72%

  1. Five Regions achieved success rates of over 80%. These are India at 87% (Regional Director, Kaushik Valluri), Germany at 86% (RD, Emmet O’Connell), Australia at 85% (RD, Denis Wright), Benelux at 82% (RD Emmet O’Connell), and Scandinavia at 81% (RD, Daniel Kusk).
