Wow what course we all experiences in Newcastle. 13 new students attended the first day feeling mostly nervous, sceptical and out of control people who stutter. The more they became used to the techniques taught thoughout the course, the more control they gained and their confidence grew. This was not one of the biggest courses we have had in recent years as less coaches could make the event. This meant that many new and inspiring graduates were given the chance to step up and help coach the new students. Returning graduates are the backbone of this programme and many showed they have what it takes to soon also become coaches. The course was again held in the Royal Station Hotel in the City Centre, easily accessible and near to the shops and places to eat. To see all the new students take to the streets on the Saturday and each speak to over 100 people was a huge credit to themselves and their coaches. Jawad Anjum and Maritza Warnik instructed the course with a fine balance of discipline and fun and were well supported by the course organiser, Lewis Tombs. The atmosphere created by them and all attendees make the course so special. To see peoples mindsets change so much in 3 days is something special and to help people reduce the fear around stuttering is truly unreal. You have to be there to believe it. A huge thank you to everyone who played their part in making this such a great course. This is not just about controlling a lifetime problem but to go well Beyond Stuttering and be the best speakers we all can be.
