I have stuttered on most of the words and sentences I have spoken (Or tried to speak) in my so far 30 some odd years of life until that glorious day in March 2012 I decided to step out of my comfort zone and face my fear of speaking. For me, it was a great sense of relief to finally start doing something about it rather than feel pity and shame when my words would not come out in the way I envisioned them.
The McGuire Course really starts working from the minute the program starts. It is a lot of hard work, but it is well worth it. You will meet, work and become friends with the only Support System that truly is supportive and Active. A Support group is one that will challenge you and not let that pity, shame, guilt, self-hate and excuses hinder your success.
(Trust me, I have been part of many of the on-line communities and they have a general theme of the “Poor-Me” attitude….No Thanks)
I wish I would have found the course sooner! It is by no means a cure, I still need to work on my speech daily … But I have begun a new chapter in my life that consists of speaking as if I have a voice now.
