PWS awaken their force in New Delhi, India!

McGuire India Programme successfully conducted its 5th course to empower people who stammer in Gurgaon, an industrial suburb of New Delhi. New students came from many corners of India spanning a wide age group, diverse backgrounds and varying degrees of stammer. Stammer wise, it was evenly split between overts and coverts.

I live on a very simple but famous cliché - " Stay Hungry , Stay Foolish ". Since childhood, i have been following a very simple protocol of living in moments and being satisfied in whatever i am. Always helped the needy without thinking of any consequences and sought no help from others. However, there was an open secret when it came to speaking - I had a debilitating stutter!

Everyday was a apocalypse for me and brought ultimate challenges in life in most speaking situations.

Hi, my name is Anoop Nair and I have been stammering for as long as I could remember.

I didn’t care much about my stammer until recently. I was in comfort zone all my life, until last year, when I had to face people from other part of the world.

I had a terrible stammer since my childhood. I attended 4 different speech therapy courses but none of them helped me in getting my words out at the right time.

Before attending the Mcguire Programme I used to change words, my sentences and even avoid words or sounds or situations altogether.

I did my first Mcguire Course in December, 2014 in New Delhi, India. I am happy that now I can say exactly what I think I have to say without any substitutions or avoidances.

The course was life changing for me.

Growing up, I didn't like to talk unnecessarily, and didn't converse much with people. Perhaps it was because of my stutter/stammer or maybe it was because I was not confident speaking openly. I would only talk to very close friends and family.

I first became aware of my stammering when I was eight years old. Then onward my confidence, my social life, my family, my work, every day was a challenge; everyday was a survival quest not to get caught on a block.

I am 32 years old and stuttered for as long as i can remember. I have taken many fluency shaping/fluency modification courses and had been an active participant in spreading the awareness about stammering in our country by giving presentations and speeches in various cities. I've even been involved in many communication workshops organised by a non profit organization for stutterers called TISA around the country as well. There was a time when I was very uncomfortable with my stutter.
