McGuire Programme Celebrates Decade of Empowering People with Stutter in MENA Region with Dubai Intensive Course
For many people who stutter, communication can be a constant challenge. However, the McGuire Programme Beyond Stuttering, dedicated to helping individuals overcome stuttering, is making a significant difference in the lives of people across the MENA region. This May, a special intensive course held in Dubai marked a decade of the Programme’s success in the region, offering not only hope but also practical tools and a supportive community.
The course welcomed twelve “brave new students” from various countries within the MENA region. These students flew in with a shared desire to learn the McGuire Programme’s techniques for managing their stutter and achieving eloquent speech. Under the expert guidance of Sharon Gavillet, one of the best McGuire Programme instructor, and the rising course instructor intern CII Soha Kotb, the students embarked on a transformative journey in Dubai.
The impact extended far beyond the new participants. Over 30 graduates and coaches from the MENA region returned to participate in the course. Their presence served a dual purpose: not only did they continue their own growth within the Programme, but they also provided invaluable support and encouragement to the new students. This spirit of community and shared experience is a cornerstone of the McGuire Programme’s philosophy.
The Dubai course held even greater significance as it coincided with the 10th anniversary of the McGuire Programme’s presence in the MENA region. A mere decade ago, the programme had a modest presence with just four members and no coaches. Today, it thrives as a vibrant community boasting over 200 members, 19 certified coaches, and 2 course instructors. This remarkable growth is a testament to the life-changing impact of the McGuire Programme.
The Dubai course wasn’t just about student participation. It also offered valuable staff training opportunities. Furthermore, it witnessed the dedication of four members who invested significant time and effort to become certified coaches. Their commitment will further strengthen the support network available to future students.
“We are incredibly grateful to Dave McGuire for creating this international program,” said a member of the MENA region. “The McGuire Programme is empowering thousands of people around the world, to find their voice and live with confidence.”
The success of the Dubai course signifies the McGuire Programme’s unwavering commitment to empowering people who stutter in the MENA region and beyond. The course provided a platform for students to not only learn new techniques but also to connect with a supportive community. As the MENA region celebrates ten years of the McGuire Programme, the future looks bright for those who stutter, offering them the opportunity to greater control over their speech, build confidence, and find their voice.
